Heilbronn - Germany

The Christmas markets – Weihnachtsmarkt – enliven many cities in Germany during December and transform squares and historical centres into enchanting villages with lots of lights, traditional foods, and customs that date back to the Middle Ages.

In the city where I live – Heilbronn – the Christmas market is a popular meeting spot for friends at the end of the year, and having a Glühwein (mulled wine) is almost obligatory on cold days. The day I took this photo was a normal weekday, there weren't many people around, and I could observe the surroundings in more detail: the people, the church in the background, the typical cloudy weather of December in Germany. Everything had that aroma of caramelized sugar and cinnamon.

Nuremberg - Germany

(May 2024)

Nuremberg is famous for its well-preserved medieval old town and also known as the site of the trials of Nazi leaders after World War II. These trials marked a turning point in international law and significantly influenced what we now understand as human rights.
I took this photo from the top deck of a tourist bus, with the idea of capturing the different textures of pavement and bluish ash tones, along with the couple in the foreground who seemed to have just met there and spontaneously started a conversation.

Bachelorette/Bachelor parties—during the warmer months, it is common to see groups of friends walking through popular tourist areas in Germany celebrating an upcoming wedding. The "bride" often has to complete small tasks such as collecting money from strangers or selling small items. The money collected is used to help pay for the party. She usually wears a funny costume reminiscent of a wedding (a small veil, a poofy skirt), and the group draws a lot of attention wherever they go. It is always very amusing to watch these party-spirited people.
I captured this group of friends during their pizza break outdoors, under the still gentle spring sun.

Heilbronn - Germany

(April 2024)

In the center of Heilbronn, two girls were engaged in lively conversation. I had originally planned to also draw the building facade in the background, but with limited time, I chose to focus just on the girls. It is impressive to see how the city changes with the approaching spring—and with it, its inhabitants.

Heidelberg - Germany

(April 2024)

Heidelberg is a historic city on the Neckar River in southwestern Germany, where the medieval streets and buildings are almost completely intact. A highlight is the castle atop the hill, offering stunning views of the city and the river. Heidelberg hosts Germany's oldest university (founded in 1386), and the coming and going of students, residents, and tourists is always fascinating to observe.
Besides the wonderful daylight and the beautiful contrast between sky and trees, what caught my attention in this scene was the casual look of the young man, clearly comfortable in his khaki outfit and carrying his red eco-bag.

Bad Wimpfen - Germany

(November 2024)

Bad Wimpfen is a small town in Baden-Württemberg, very close to city where I live now. I often visit Bad Wimpfen to admire the charming, typically German architecture, have a coffee, and make some drawings.
It was a cold autumn day, but the weather was beautiful, and we took the opportunity to take a walk.
